I
began my career as a paramedic. Although challenging
and exciting in the beginning, eventually even the adrenaline
rush couldn’t keep me satisfied. It was time to
move on, so I went to nursing school. I became an excellent
nurse, and learned a variety of skills from my experiences
in CCU, MICU, SICU, NICU, and Trauma Emergency Care.
Eventually, I realized that I could impact
more patients through teaching our next generation of
nurses than through direct patient care. Although I
love teaching nursing students, I found that the continuing
education arena allowed me to act as a conduit for communicating
best practices to the nurses at the bedside. My goal
is to help thousands or even millions of nurses to get
the information they need to stay up-to-date and improve
their practice.
Active involvement in the American Association
of Critical Care Nurses and the Society of Critical
Care Medicine, along with frequent publishing in Nursing,
Image, and Nursing Made Incredibly Easy
make these goals possible. As a frequent presenter of
nursing continuing education throughout the US and Canada,
it is my goal to help your nurses to achieve at their
highest level of contribution and to give them the resources
necessary to do so.
I would like to help your nurses to develop
the skills of teamwork, critical thinking, collaboration,
and life-long learning; and to help you take appropriate
action when faced with a patient in crisis. As a Clinical
Nurse Specialist in Critical Care, I have helped thousands
of nurses identify and respond appropriately to crises
in their patients; using the unique concepts of the
Rapid Response Team.
Please join me on the path to excellence,
and may the journey begin!
