    In this seminar participants will get the opportunity to explore cardiac dysfunction, assessment, and evidence based interventions for the most common cardiovascular problems that nurses encounter. The format is designed to be fast paced, fun and interactive to help participants get useful and practical information that they can immediately apply at the bedside.

    Objectives
    • Compares and contrasts pathologies that make up acute coronary syndromes.
    • Uses simple analogies to describe hemodynamic principles.
    • Describes noninvasive hemodynamic assessment.
    • Uses a 5-step method to examine dysrhythmias.
    • Identifies several post-MI complications by their presenting symptoms.
    • Plans care of patients with heart failure using a case study approach.
    • Differentiates cardiogenic shock from other types of shock.
    • Summarizes appropriate interventions to treat sudden cardiac death.
    • Plan care for patients with metabolic syndrome.
    • Distinguish characteristics of antihypertensive medications.
    • Plan pharmacologic care for patients with acute coronary syndrome.
    • Using a case study choose appropriate patients to receive thrombolytics.
    • Compare and contrast antidysrhythmic agents.
