What's New in Acute Coronary Syndrome?

    Program description:
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a continuum of conditions that cause cardiac chest pain.  Distinguishing between the conditions is important to prevent complications and morbidity.  Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to identify the pathophysiology of acute coronary syndromes, and the assessment and treatment priorities for each disease process.

    Objectives:
    1. List risk factors for acute coronary syndromes.
    2. Identify pathophysiological ECG changes associated with acute coronary syndromes.
    3. Compare and contrast findings in stable angina, unstable angina, NSTEMI and STEMI.
    4. Describe the plan of care for patients with acute coronary syndromes.
    5. Identify teaching priorities for the patient with acute coronary syndrome.
